Florence
Situated on the east coast of Tasmania, in the coastal town of Coles Bay, this family shack is to be renovated and revived.
A nostalgic family shack where fishing, diving, outdoor activity and cozying up by the fire is a priority. The need for fixing and upgrading structural features and water issues lead this family to venture on the exciting journey to fix their shack.
The architectural concept was to re-create and enhance the features of the existing home, with the bedrooms remaining in place, it stretches across the contours creating strong horizontal layering, contrasting with dramatic masses. The new living area, master suite, morning and afternoon decks enjoy the dramatic forms of the hazard mountains and Great Oyster Bay. Following the existing form and positioning on site, the new improved shack is formed, while still evoking memories and feelings from the existing.
The interior draws on the soft coastal tones of the nearby beach. With rich texture and warmth of blackbutt eucalyptus features throughout the shack.
